You send us your isolated pure culture (bacteria, yeasts, moulds), and we identify those microorganisms using molecular-biological methods.
So: Simply send isolates
For standard molecular identification we use the sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene of bacteria or the 18S rRNA gene of fungi, respectively. The sequence is used for a database query, and the result (species; sequence homology) is sent as a report.
To differentiate closely related species the sequencing of additional genes may be reasonable:
Bacteria | Fungi |
---|---|
16S rRNA | 18S rRNA |
rpoB gene | 28S rRNA |
Gyrase-PCR to differentiate the genus Bacillus | ITS region |
(bold: standard system)
Applications:
- Industrial quality control
- Confirmatory identification
- Hygiene monitoring
- Clinical diagnostics
- Identification of isolates in research projects
